BIZONE

The first Roman-travel stop on a journey from north to south along the Bulgarian Black Sea coast is the town of Kavarna. The remains of its ancient predecessor, Bizone, are almost invisible, unless you dive into the local bay. There lie the houses and streets of an entire neighbourhood of the ancient Bizone, submerged in the 1st and 2nd centuries AD, when the coast rose by four metres, triggering a devastating landslide.
