On the Yaylata plateau, near the village of Kamen Bryag, a strong fortress was built in the 5th and 6th centuries to guard this stretch of the Black Sea coastline. Standing against the backdrop of the blue sea, among the red rocks and the green bushes of rare plants in the Yaylata reserve, the white stone walls of the fortress used to be an astonishing sight. But a recent "reconstruction" of the site has robbed Yaylata and the fortress from its charm and authenticity.
