Ahtopol is the last place with Roman-era history on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. Few traces of the period, as well as from its ancient Greek predecessor, Agathopolis, are preserved there. However, the local Anchor Museum will enlighten you on the town's millennia-old seafaring past and its treacherous waters, the Roman era included.
